Social Values in a Changing World – Best Practices from Europe

Tuesday 23.10.2018, 9.00 – 17.00

Arktikum, Pohjoisranta 4 Rovaniemi, Finland

Depopulation affects large parts of the European countryside. With families and women leaving rural areas, it is often the elderly and men who are left behind.

While rural areas often possess opportunities for new industries, they are faced with diminishing public services, demographic challenges and the changing labor market.

One way to tackle these issues could be the establishment of a strong social economy and the boost of social entrepreneurship. Could therefore social economy and social entrepreneurship be one way to secure public services and develop employment opportunities?

The Regional Council of Lapland and the Lapland University of Applied Sciences organize a seminar discussing these issues in a European setting. The seminar “Social Values in a Changing World – Best Practices from Europe” is organized in cooperation with European partners and EU-funded projects:

  • Social Entrepreneurship in a Sparsely Populated Areas – SOCENT SPAs
  • International Cooperation in Community Based Civil Safety and Security (funded by ERDF).
